About the Department

The New Mexico Corrections Department (NMCD) is one of the largest state agencies in New Mexico and is fully committed to public safety. The department operates two major divisions: the Adult Prisons Division, which oversees 10 facilities statewide housing over 5,700 inmates, and the Probation and Parole Division, which supervises more than 13,000 offenders across the state. NMCD focuses on accountability while integrating programs for rehabilitation and reformation through various services to reduce the risk of recidivism.
